Give Me Neither Poverty Nor Riches
Monday, November 1, 2010 at 5:35PM Francis Chan is a hero of mine. He pastored Cornerstone Community Church and wrote two bestsellers. The following video Francis made really challenged me:
Solomon asks God in Proverbs 30:7-9 to give him neither poverty nor riches, but only his daily bread. It goes on to say that if I am poor, I will be tempted to steal. And if I have too much, then I may no longer depend on the Lord. In our culture, we want more, more, more. So much that we even develop a form of the Gospel that focuses on our financial prosperity. There is something to be said of having so that we may give and show generosity. But God, who has access to all the things of beauty and worth of this world and the next, does not need my financial prosperity to enact his grace through me. He needs only a servant fully reliant on Him.
